On April 3, 2019, representatives of the Ministry of Economy – Directorate for Development of Small and Medium Enterprises, partner of the QNeST project Quality Network of Suistanable Tourism (Adrion program), were guests of the National Park of Skadar Lake. Within the days of dedicated importance of involvement of local communities in the preservation and promotion of the tourist potentials of this region and the valorization of cultural and historical heritage, together with the expert Ms. Lidija Brnović, a workshop of branding and a strategic vision for sustainable tourism was held.
About 20 participants, representatives of the local community, small and medium businesses, tour operators and NGO associations, fish, wine and honey producers attended workshops where Ms. Brnović presented a questionnaire with criteria and procedures for obtaining QNeST brand, as well as benefits which potential QNeST stakeholders would have if engaged with other partners from the Adriatic Ionian region receiving the brand name QNeST.
There was a discussion in particular related to the importance of branding and protection of domestic traditional producers, wines, fish and other traditional products characteristic of the Skadar Lake, as well as the promotion of tourism routes of sustainable initiatives of this region through the potential offer of cultural and traditional heritage.
The conclusion of the workshop was the necessity of a high level of interaction, cooperation and feelings of communion between cultural-historical geographical areas, such as the area of Skadar Lake and the local community in order to successfully manage national parks and achieve sustainable tourism. Alongside the branding and recognition of traditional products of this region, mutual support and cooperation of the local community will contribute to the preservation of cultural heritage and tradition, as well as to the improvement and valorization of educational, health, recreational, tourist and other values of protected areas and tourist routes.
